Tunze ATO 5017 Controller Beeping and All Lights Flash

My ATO was working fine a few months ago when I disconnected it from my old tank. I tarted a new build and got it all ready, and when I power up the Tunze, it beeps, then all lights flash and just a green light on the "level" indicator. About 5 seconds later, it repeats. The pump never starts.

I did notice if I hold the float switch up, it stops the beeping.

Not sure what's going on here, as it was working fine. Very frustrated with it!

Any ideas? Bad controller? Bad pump?

Bad pump, disconnect the pump, if this stops happening and it stays on, the pump has just seized or failed, a new pump will get it back up and running.

Thanks Roger. I was going to update, as I tried the pump with a 9v battery last week and nothing (faint click, but seemed seized up), so I assumed the pump was dead. I got a new pump and it's working again! I assume these pumps can't be repaired?

No, they are a sealed unit.

That just happened to me when I switched it to a new tank. I replaced the pump but it didn't fix it. Some thing wrong with the controller so I got a new one. Glad yours was easy

We do repair them if you send it in, I cannot repair the pump as it is a sealed unit, but we can repair the controllers in many cases. What is happening on yours and how old is it?

Low level light for 5 seconds - shuts off for a couple seconds - all lights beep and alarm beeps until unplugged. Pump doesn't come on so I replaced the pump and still nothing. Controller is a year old and old pump was 4 months old.

Are you sure you did not inadvertently swap power supplies? Almost every piece of aquarium equipment that is DC uses the same size tip, if it is the wrong power supply that will also cause this problem, either over powered or under powered. What you describe is the overload protection and it will either be the pump or the power supply, it can also be badly corroded pump or power connections. The correct power supply will say Tunze and will be 11V or 12V and model 5012.010
