i count on this to keep my tank filled while i am away for a week at a time. so far i have been lucky, only came home to a tank full of bubbles once but just had it happen again when the sensor isnt picking up the need to turn the pump on to fill the tank.

i will try to clean the sensor with vinegar tonight, but i am due to be away soon for a week so kind of worried a bit. any other suggestions?

How old is the controller? If it is newer than 2012 we can run a diagnostic on the sensor. I would also verify what lights are on, yellow or red means the sensor is working and the pump is the issue, only a perpetual green (level) light would indicate the sensor is the problem.

It's new bought in 2015 around January. I've seen where the red light flashes for no reason when this happens

How do I go about getting diagnostic done?

Sorry to hijack, but I have the same issue. My light on the controller is green. But the level in the ato section is about 4" below the sensor. When I disconnect, then reconnect power, the Orange/yellow light comes on indication the pump is working, it's runs for about 30 seconds, then stops. The pump light turns off, and the green light remains lit. What can I do? Thanks.

Is there a way to tell the age of the unit? I bought it new at least 3 years ago. But don't remember exactly when. Thanks. Again, sorry for the hijack.

The red lights would not flash for no reason, if the too low red light is flashing that means it told the pump to run for 10 minutes and a fill was not registered, it has shut down as a safety. If the too high red light is on, that means the float is raised, if both are on, that generally means the controller sustained water damage.

If you take the optic sensor out of water, wipe it dry and plug it in, it will flash all four lights and beep and very briefly after that show one light which is the optic sensor status, the sensor must be dry for this test to be valid. Green means it is good, yellow means it is slightly dirty (it could be just a fingerprint), red means it is severely dirty, has a broken wire, or is wet (wet will always fail).

reefermad619, this would likely mean the optic sensor has failed, the pump always runs on start up for about 15-20 seconds, I would first try soaking the sensor in vinegar for 3-4 hours, calcium or mineral build up can cause this as well. If that does not solve it a new optic sensor can be installed for $28.80 plus the cost of shipping.

^ thanks for the response. Sensors is clean. I wash it weekly with regular maintainence. Can you Pls pm me for the new sensor? Thanks.
