Tunze Comline Nano Wavebox 6208 Very Noisy

I received my new Tunze Comline Nano Wavebox 6208 today and it is extremely noisy. Is this normal? Almost sounds defective, like something is grating or plastic vibrating on the pulses. Are these units tested before they're sent out? The unit is also emitting a lot of small bubbles.

I have it connected to my existing 7096 controller.

Also, no jumpers were included in the box.

The instructions say that the unit gets quieter after two to three weeks??

On a separate issue, how do I check and see if my 7096 needs a firmware update and if it does how do I go about it.

Also is there a better usb / com driver for Windows 7 to assure more consistent connection of the 7096 to my laptop. It always seems to be hit and miss whether or not the 7096 is recognized by the 7096 software.

Upon removal of the unit and closer inspection, the pump housing is not seated properly. The two halves of the pump ball are not aligned in place. It is difficult to get my hands in there to snap them together. I don't want to make it any worse.

I was able to disassemble and reassemble the box and properly re-seat the pump. Unit is working much better.

I am still missing the jumpers and think I want to order the Tunze 3162.130 Intake Lid.

I also still need to dial in the 7096 firmware and USB / Com Port driver for Window 7.

This was not exactly the experience I have come to expect from Tunze.

The jumpers would be in a very small cellophane bag that was in the box the power supply came in, the bag is roughly 2" long and 1" wide.

It is fairly common for the pump front housing on Waveboxes to come off in transport, you solved it before I got a chance to chime in.

Updating a 7096 is optional, if you just got it, it should have the most recent software included, if it is more than 6 months old you can download the update on line. The key to successful connection is assigning it a low com port number 1-3. I will ask Craig to chime in as he is far more knowledgeable about Windows.

There shouldn't be any need to update the firmware.

Are you still having connection issues? Please let me know the process you're following or the specific problem you're running in to and I can give advice based on that.

It's just hit and miss whether the program recognizes the controller. I plug the USB Cable into the Wavecontroller, then into my Windows 7 laptop, then double click on the Tunze Multi Controller program icon I have setup on my desktop to open the program. I keep getting the message "No Com-Port found.

What is the proper sequence?

Thanks, found the jumpers. It was funny, there were little pieces of Styrofoam in the box. Stuck to the unit, but no big pieces protecting anything. Almost threw out the jumpers with the shrink wrap covering the unit.

That is the correct sequence. Two things to try: First, try always plugging the cable in to the same USB port on your computer. Also, the next time it happens, keep open the software instance where it says "No Com-Port Found" then go back and open a second instance of the program while keeping the initial one still open.

Thank you, I'll give it a try this afternoon.

I've got another couple of questions: I was looking at the Tunze Cable Safe (6105.600).
Do I need one of these for each pump (I have two 9095 and and the 6208 as well as the 7096 Multi Controller) or do multiple cables fit.

I am also looking at the Tunze 6208 Optional Intake Lid (3162.130). Do you adjust how high the wave box sits in the aquarium with this lid? If you do, does the wave box sit higher or lower?

You will need one Cable safe for each pump, it would secure the connector against spills and splashes and helps keep any connection from working loose.

The install height is variable with either top but you generally want about half of the surface skimmer lid under water. Just a note, we do not include the surface skimmer as most people will have some other form of surface skimming and the surface skimmer will result in more noise and a slightly shorter wave if installed deeper than needed (where water can constantly inflow instead of just during a return pulse).
