Tunze Controllable vs Non Controllable with Apex

I am in need of a small pump to put along the back wall of my tank. I love my other Tunze pumps but they are all controllable. If I buy one of the smaller non controllable pumps can I still use my Apex to control it via the regular socket with the OSC command? Will that damage the powerhead in anyway or are the non controllable ones only meant for constant flow with out being turned on and off?

You can turn them off and on but not more than once every 15 minutes and they will chatter on every start. I would ideally keep the off and on cycles to every half hour or longer.
