I was at the LFS today they just added Tunze to their product line(now i dont have to order yay!!!!) anways.....got a couple of frags and i already needed some glue of some sort but ran into a Tunze product---

Tunze 104.74 Coral fix...its a two part glue

Anyone use this? Successfully? Do i really need to do it in a separate bucket? how long to take to dry???

i got lots of questions so anyone or everyone that can give me the run down on this product and how they use it in DETAIL would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!!

buy aquamend or that green stick of epoxy, big stick for 10 bucks... I am sure that anything with the tunze name on it costs triple

I am sure that anything with the tunze name on it costs triple

That's what I was thinking :lol2: 2-part, have to use in a seperate bucket, Tunze pricing... Epoxy and SG gel, leave the Tunze stuff to collect dust on the shelf...

I payed 11 bucks for it....the green stuff was 18 so go figure....i would think tunze would cost more but it didnt...believe me i wasnt about to pay 30 or 40 bucks for basically a glue for my frags

its not a 2part...you take the two parts before you use it and knead it together....they react to harden.....its not two steps but just two separate materials that harden when put together after you knead it

So anyone use the tunze stuff or actually have EXPERIENCE with it?

Dont be so quick to bash this stuff as it was actually 8 bucks less for almost the same amount as that other stuff you say is 10 bucks(which was 18)...they suggested the green stuff but i saw the tunze stuff and it was cheaper so i said why not because i like TUNZE products

shipping my friend...shipping brings it out more than that (i dont live anywhere near jeffs exotic reefs).....either way thats 2 more dollars than the tunze stuff

SO ANYONE USE THE TUNZE STUFF...I AM NOT TAKING ADVICE ON WHAT TO GET BUT ADVICE ON WHAT I ALREADY HAVE

hah. cant get an answer to a simple question.

I have not, but posted a similiar question the other day in general forum.

I tried the deltec. not too sticky.

Let me know how it works out for you. The suggestions I got were to use sg gel to attach frag to epoxy, then epoxy to attach to rock in aquarium to get best adhesion.

I have it and used it, nothing special. Just like any other epoxy but make sure you mount anything out of the water because it takes a long time to cure if you try sticking it to a piece of rock inside your aquarium.

I've used it and like it.

In fact I just ran out last week and need to go get some more- thanks for reminding me!

I've used the Aquamend and some AquaMedic 2part epoxy before and can say I like the Tunze WAY better.

The reason is simple- I bought the AquaMedic and had it about a month before one of the sticks started to prematurely harden. So when I tried to mix it up, there would be lil hard spots all in the putty and it caused the structural integrity of the 2part to weaken. Tunze on the other hand I have had for the last 6 months- 3 of which, after a move, stayed in my car and so was exposed to extreme temps. Took it out last week to mount some frags and its as soft as ever! Quality product.

And FWIW, I don't take the rocks out, I use it in the tank with no ill effects

I have never used the Tunze one but I have used every other product available in the market, the only one that I like and rave about is the deltec one, it does't stick in your fingers, it sticks even in algae cover rock and it will cure to a rock solid material IMO it is not the same material as the other 2 part epoxy's because it doesn't act the same way, it is way superior.

Most 2 parts are not good to use on frags...they get to hot...just use superglue gel.

A little elaboration would be nice....how hot? Superglue probably gets hot too doesnt it? It seems there would be issues using superglue as well.

So if I use the tunze stuff that i ALREADY have....i should do it out of water?? Or should i do it in water but out of the tanks...say in a 5 gallon bucket?

I dont want to kill my frags they are doing so well right now unattached and are the two nicest frags i have bought so far.

Give us a report on it. I agree with Roger, I love the Deltec stuff - or D&D - whatever brand. IME a lot of these stay soft for a long time. The Deltec stuff dries very hard and quickly. You can put in even a big stag and once it hardens (about a day) it ain't goin anywhere - a lot of the others will continue to give for much, much longer. My guess is the Tunze stuff is also not just re-branded Home Depot Aqua-Mend.

its definitely not re-branded aqua-mend...that i can tell you....

how long does this stuff take to dry..i mean if i am not supposed to put it in tank(it says it can be "biologically damaging" on the package) and it takes a while to dry how the heck am i supposed to use it?

i am going to give it a whirl tonight i think...ill let you know how it goes and how effective this stuff is

i have about 4 peices that are ready for attachment so ill get some good practice with this stuff
