I hate to post this here, but I wasn't completlely sure where I should. When I went to the Tunze website it actually had the link here.
I have had my nano skimmer 9002 for about a year and half. I have been very happy with it during this time, with cleaning and maintance I have not had any issues with it until now.
I was working on my tank and as I put my hand in the tank I started to get shocked. I had noticed the tunze had stopped skimming and it turned out that it was causing the current in the water, and obviously the reason I was getting shocked.
I hadnt taken the tunze out of the tank in months. I had cleaned the pump about 4 or 5 months ago when the skimmer stopped skimming, but hadnt had any problems since then.
I checked the cord and the pump and I dont see any exposed wires or other electrical components.
I have been the hobby along time and I have had pumps stop working, but never have I been shocked by one, and I don't know how long it was shorting out into the water.
I know I have had the skimmer a year and half, but that doesnt seem that long for the main component of it to have this problem. Is this a common problem, is there some defect with this pump, I did see there is a newer model. Is there something you are or are not supposed to do with these pumps?
The manual has a two year warranty, but I am not sure if this is covered under the warranty or what I would need to do to replace or repair the pump.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
