Works by pumping RO water through a small contact vessel which contains the Kalk. It's very crude and it is possible to spike everything if you have too much Kalk in the vessel. I suppose the kalk in the vessel is mixed to a degree by the incoming RO water, I have found that it is best to give it a shake every day or so (make sure you turn off the top-off for an hour to let things settle!).
