I'm thinking of investing in an osmolator to hook it up as my ATO and thru my Deltec KALK stirrer KM500. I have 4 questions and I was wondering if experienced osmolator users would have the answers for me.
#1) From what I've read the osmolator has an optical sensor that turns the filling pump ON/OFF. Do you happen to know how sensitive the ON/OFF range is? In other words when it's dry it turns on. After how much water height will turn it off? 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1 inch?
#2) What is the "fill" rate? Is it drop wise like a peristaltic pump or faster? If faster is it like a microjet?
#3) If my PH goes too high, can I turn the osmolator OFF? ... and when I turn it back ON, will it resume normal operation? or do I need to manually set it up again. I can turn the power to the osmolator ON/OFF with my aquacontroller if the PH gets too high. (say above 8.4)
#4) My other option would be to only buy the optical sensor assembly from Tunze and hook it up to my aquacontroller directly and have the AC3 control the fill up peristaltic pump. Do you know if the interface of the optical sensor is like a typical open collector device? Would that set up work? If yes, what is the optical sensor assembly part number?
