Tunze osmolator repair

I have had a Tunze osmolator for a few years now. Today it began having issues where the red too high light and buzzer were going off with the too low light flashing. Based on the manual it looks like I got it wet. Is this repairable and if so is it typically cost effective to repair it or would I be better off just buying a new one. I've had it at least 3 years so I am assuming it is out of warrenty, and even so I'm would guess that getting it wet invalidates any warrenty it may have.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

Have you opened it to verify if it got wet? This is the usual culprit of what you describe, but not the only culprit. Water damage is not repairable, you can buy a controller only for less than the price of a full unit but given the improvements with the magnet holder, power supply and the fact you may have a 3 year old pump, a new osmo is probably the best way to go if it got wet. If so let me know and I will get you a discount.

The other possible cause is magnetic interference from a new ballast, x-10 device or large pump or magnet cleaner or holder near the controller.

A faulty or damaged float switch can also cause this. The signal basically means there is a conflict- too high and too low at the same time.

Thanks

I did open it up and don't see any water or evidence of water. What in involved with switching out the float sensor, hopefully this is relatively simple.

It isn't for sure the float switch, but if it is, the float has to be unsoldered from the board and a new one installed. I would suggest sending it in and include a return address and phone number.

I think I will just get a new one, the AC plug is a little tempermental anyways.
I do love this product.

Thanks,
Chris
