Tunze powerheads and cooling

I am trying to cool my tank a bit as well as do away with some of my bulky powerheads. I have a 75 gallon sps dominant tank. In this tank I have
2 - seio 820s
1 - Koralia 3
1 - Koralia 4
I was thinking of switching to 2 Tunze 6045s. Now I know that the GPH isnt the same in total. What I am thinking/asking is - Do the Tunze powerheads supply a superior type of flow that will make up for the GPH? Im also thinking that not having 4 powerheads running in my tank will cool things down a bit.
Tunze users, or anyone for that matter - what are your experiences? Flow, Temperature, etc?
BTW I posted this in the main RC equipment forum, but I figured I would get some local thoughts on this.

if your going to do the 45s then i would just buy the 6025s and do the mod to them...
will be almost the same in gph..
if it was me i would opt for the tunze 6060s

i have had both and the 6060s put out way more flow ...

if you tank is mostly dom. with sps. thats the way i would go.. and they are only 11 watts a piece as well.
a little bulky but built better as well..
i have had the 6000's 6100's and 6200's they are nice as well.

but your tank will drop in temps if you go with just the 6060's

i also ran eheims as returns prob the 1260 would work perfectly for you..

I had two tunzes like that in my 55g but changed one out for a vortech (not necessarily overkill) but didn't notice much difference in temps. I'm running a stable 81 last summer and this with T5s and a fan. I definitely think reducing your powerheads will reduce the heat though thats quite a lot. If you're running any type of sump another culprit to look at is your return pump, but also dont forget to keep the temp stable so still use a heater at night despite any powerheads.

Thanks for the responses. I wanted to go with the 6045s because somone on here is selling some. My tank isn't hot per se. It runs around 81 to 81.5 on average and I do run a heater at night. I would just like to have it a bit lower.

PLEASE be aware that there is NOTHING wrong with 81 to 81.5 degrees....That is well within the very healthy range for your tank....even more than the temperature is the consistency of the temps....If you are holding a tight temp variance there should be no issue with 81 degrees....

You could use vortechs as the heat is on the outside. However, I noticed more heat using my Seio's then my Vortechs. I dropped about 2 degrees in temp switching two out. 81 to 83 is what mine runs consistently with zero issues.

I have a chiller on my tank and keep it set to a range of 81 to 81.5 (pumps keep my water very warm). If you are looking to improve flow or the look of your tank by eliminating powerheads, then go for it. But if you are just looking to lower the temps, it isn't necessary in my experience. That's right around where I try to stay. I have a powerhead that is not working right, and since them move I am having temps about a degree higher than before....I am cooling the house to the same temps....dunno, but as long as I never go above about 82 or 82.5 I just do not worry about it....the biggest thing I try for is near steady temps.....
