tunze powerheads vs streams

What is the MAIN difference between a Tunze powerhead and stream? I am looking at 2 x Tunze 3000 powerheads + a wavemaker for my 5 foot reef tank. I want to know if these will operate similar or close to how the streams operate? The only differences I can see are that the streams pump at a higher flow rate and appear to "push" water across a larger area rather than "jet" it like a powerhead. Is this right? If so, will the powerhead still provide my corals the flow they need?

I have also heard there are conversion kits for the powerheads to streams, is this so and roughly how much are they?

Any info would be much appreciated, thanks.

First, you cannot run Tunze pumps on wavemakers, it will destroy them and voids the warranty. Only the electronic pumps can be used in this manner and only on our wavemakers because it is a computer interface that prevents the start up damage. The Streams produce a broad jet for large tanks. For your tank depending on inhabitants I would go with either 2 6000's and a multicontroller or 2 7400/2 and a multicontroller.

ok, to be specific 2 x tunze 3000 powerheads and a tunze 7094 multicontroller - does this make a difference or is it the same problem?

The 3000's will not work on the multicontroller, only Tunze models labeled "electronic" work on the multicontroller.

They are TUNZE Turbelle Powerheads plugged into TUNZE Electronic Power Adaptor 7094.40 which I was told converts any TUNZE non electronic pump into an electronic pump? Still an issue? (sorry for not being specific on the first post)

Yes, that adapter only works with pumps 2002 and 4002, it will ruin any other pump including a Tunze Turbelle. It is made for asynchronous air cooled motors. Whoever told you that was wrong. You will only have feed mode and the pumps could turn on and off but if you turn the power below 100% you risk ruining the pumps and it would be out of warranty.
