Up to 1200 gph at 8.5 W for $50 is pretty good and includes a magnet mount! Can't be speed-controlled, though (from what I read), but if you want flow, this may be for you. I may have to order one just to try it out. Available at drsfostersmith.com.

I have the NanoStream 6025... I really like it... They look very similar in design... But they run about $62... Worth every penny IMO... Comes with a magnet mount too... :D Oh, but only 660 gph... Big difference there... Maybe I'll try one in my 75... ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if Tunze manufactures their equipment in China, ships it to Germany, and we get nailed on pricing because of the unfavorable Euro exchange rate.

I hate common names, but everyone else likes them, so ya gotta go with the flow. Problem is, it goes by white wrasse, 3 spot wrasse, 4 spot wrasse, and a few lesser ones. Halichoeres trispilus avoids the confusion.

Yeah, those pumps definitely look like they are worth a try. The prop looks like a spiral to me, and so I wonder if it blows water "around" as well as out.

I saw something like this at A critter but you could dial it up and down. It moved water very well. I also think the electrical cord was on the outside of the tank. Still for $50 for that much flow you can't beat it.

That's something to check into... The open flow makes most things really happy.

Angela, I think you're thinking of the Ice Cap Vortex-~$350... Nice, though. I like the idea of electricity being separated from salt water;).

Hmmm those pumps do look very promising. I did read about concerns on the strength of the magnets. I have had a powerhead fall into the sandbed of a reeftank.... not a very fun experience to say the least. The size seems quite large though.
1,200 gph 8.5 3-1/4" x 6-1/4"

So that large pump is going to stick out half a foot into my tank?

As far as speed control I wonder if they could on a unit that does not do start and stop but lowers voltage abit and raises.

And darnit I just did my salt order from dr fosters.. I would have grabbed one to try it out.

that was my reasoning for going with the nanostreams over these. these are to big for my taste. they also look a bit flimsy but you cant really tell untill you try one out.
