Tunze skimmer

Hello.
I currently have the Tunze Stream pumps on my 200 gallon tank and love them, so I wanted to give Tunze a shot on a skimmer. I have been going skimmerless for a year now with only a refugium. I have liked it alot, but I am now getting a bit worried because some of my corals have recently died while others look totally fine. Therefore, I won't to put a skimmer on my tank to run on occassion, not all the time. I have read good things about the Tunze skimmers since they claim to not pull all that much "plankton" out of the water. My refugium has a constant water level of 8 and a half inches from the bottom and the water level is 10 and a half inches from the top edge of the tank. Is there a way to incorporate a Tunze skimmer in this setup. If so, what skimmer would be recommended for a 200 gallon tank.
Thanks alot for anyone's advice.

I just bought the 240/3 which is rated at 2000 litres (~250 Gal.) This is the 4th skimmer I've acquired trying to get one to work in my small sump. I only have a space of 8 x 11. My tank is only 72 g but I got the bigger capacity skimmer because I want to upgrade my tank and the last thing I want to do is buy yet another skimmer.

I thought I would reply because your water levels sound similar to my and I could share my experience. I found the brackets that came with the skimmer awkward because they are designed for European tanks and, in any case, didn't drop the skimmer down far enough without purchasing an extension kit. My LFS threw in the stand for the skimmer which was fine but it only works with about 6 in. of water so I placed a 2 in. platform under it and it fit perfectly.

It looks kinda wierd, like it shouldn't work, but by the end of the second day it was producing a nice dry foam and, so far, I am very impressed. This is the first skimmer I've had that actually works the way they say it will.

Good luck,
Duncan

Yep- the first time I saw one I was wondering where you add the milk- looked like some sort of espresso machine and not at all like most skimmers on the market. I think propping it up on stand 1281.32 with a little platform under it would work very well. I would get either the 230/3 or 240/3 and run it continuously. They really are plankton safe as the pump only recirculates the water in the skimmer and the waste is removed from the water by diffusion- the water isn't actively being pumped from the tank through the skimmer. Both skimmers were redesigned and I am quite impressed with the new design especially the new wide throat one piece cup of the 240/3- it's a big improvement.
