Tunze Stream 6060 putting curent into tank!

I bought 2 used 6060 last year, and when upgrading to a larger tank I found that on 6060 is putting a current into the tank. I can fel this current, and is fairly strong, yet neither trip the GFCI outlight it is on.

I looked the cord over and there is no damage to it, and everything else looks good. When I add my grounding probe, the current goes away. Thus that is the reason I never noticed this current before in the old tank, so I have no idea how long the 6060 has been doing this.

Is there any repair that can be done to fix this problem, as I feel the grounding probe is doing its job, I'd still like to have the 6060 not sending current out.

Thanks

I have heard a few reports of this and have yet to have it test true. It is not impossible but it hasn't happened yet. Usually the source of the stray voltage is another item in the tank. The Stream magnet well contains a special low friction plastic which includes graphite. Beyond that is a ground strap. The 6060 can essentially serve as a ground probe but not a perfect one. It grounds it just enough to complete a circuit. Graphite is a modest conductor and it carries the current in to the ground strap. When the same pump is tested ina bucket isolated from the tank, the voltage disappears in every instance I have heard of/tested. Send me the pump, if it is less than 2 years old it will be covered under warranty provided it isnt a cut cord- that is something to check I have seen urchins and puffers chew through the cord. If it is out of warranty I will certainly discount a replacement and I can check by several methods that the pump is or isn't safe. If you try the bucket test, please don't use your hands, use a voltmeter.
