I'm setting up a 5x2x2 150g acrylic reef tank for SPS plus a few softies and clams. I plan to have at least one sea swirl on my return (by the way, looking for something quiet and energy efficient so if you have a pump suggestion fire away). I am considering not using a closed loop for additional circulation and just using two Tunze Stream's on a multicontroller mounted in deco rocks instead. My aquascaping will be a bit more open than most you see on these boards with about 150 lbs. of live rock and my sand bed will be 3-4 inches, with sand about one size larger than sugar size sand.
For those of you who have experience with doing something similar are you satisfied with the Tunze's and no closed loop for additional circulation? How quiet are they? Heat? Would you go with two 6000's or two 6100's? Any other suggestions? Thanks.
