Tunze Suggestions

Roger,

I am currently in the design stage of my next tank. I am thinking of going with a tank either 84Lx36wx24h or 72Lx36wx24h with an external overflow. I am currently using two 6000s and a 7095 on my 125 AGA and love the setup.

I was thinking of upgrading my two 6000s two 6100s and running a wavebox. The two 6100s be in the far back corners and would point towards the front middle of the tank for the current deflection. I was thinking ho having a special compartment added for the wavbax similar to an external overflow. I have also pondered purchasing two 6200s instead of the wavebox and 6100s.

Would I be able to have one wavebox on either of these 84Lx36wx24h or 72Lx36wx24h tanks? If so would it work being in an external compartment? I would believe the compartment would have to house enough water to fill the wavebox and course the out put of the wavebox would be in the main tank.

A guy on here did the external box thing, it should be possible but that is outside my realm. I honestly think people get too obsessed with something that could be concealed with a bit of rock and a tier of PVC much more simply. As for whether one is enough, you are near the limits but you should try it and add an extension if necessary. One will work but the extennsion will make a bigger wave.

As for the 6200 vs 6100. It really depends, if you will be keeping SPS go with 6200's, if your focus is on a mixed tank or softies of LPS- 2 6100.

Thanks for the reply, the tank is going to be a mix of softies and some LPS. I think I will try the 6100s as I can always buy the 6200s or maybe the 6300s (j/k way overkill).

Now that I think about it more, if I put the wavebox on the end by the wall, it would be barley noticble. I will have to discuss with the better half on what she thinks.

As Claude said from Tunze France, "The 6300 should only be used with big fish in huge aquariums, unless you want Chromis soup." It doesn't have the shielding of the propeller and the force is really strong. It really was made just for zoos.

I know, that is why I put the j/k after the 6300. You know someone on this forum will buy the 6300s for their tank.
