Tunze to Profilux Cable

Converting back to my old Tunze pumps. I'm looking at the cable and I'm a little confused here.
Profilux Tunze 1 control cable:This cable will only operate on Port L1 and L3
Profilux Tunze 2 control cable:This cable will only operate on Port L2 and L4
What's the difference? I though these are just straight DC pin conversion. And also, the only ports that are available on my controller are L5 and L5.

the wiring is different inside, Tunze 1 will not work on even number ports

If you only have L5 left available then you need Tunze 1 cable. If you need more L ports then you need expansion PLM-4L

How can you tell the cables apart? once out of the package the cables have no labels to tell them apart??

If you plug the wrong one into the wrong port it wont work, so if unsure put one on an L port then manually ramp the pump up and down if it does not respond and you have correctly configured it then you know.

Ottawa, is there a how to write up on Tunze pumps, i have installed 2 6105 with a splitter cable and only 1 is working on pulse i think

put the two tunzes into group 1 and put a tick box in 1 and 2

Make sure the L ports assigned to the Tunzes are set to current pump 1 and the other L port current pump 2

the rest is plain sailing as long as you have a Tunze 1 and a tunze 2 cable

Maybe someone here can post some screen shots of their set up to help you.

Nick, I still haven't bought a flow pump for my 36 gal MIDI. I was thinking of starting with a Tunze pump. Do you mind sharing why you went back to Tunze?
Thanks.

To be honest....I don't really know! I hate the Vortech noise and the fact that I can't angle the pump so that everything that's in the direct line of fire will be killed. For about a year of using it, I've replaced the 2 propeller due to a broken shaft. I like the wide flow pattern though.
The Tunze offers more flexibility in terms of placement and are more quiet. It's also more reliable. I've used the tunze for over 3 years before shutting it down and I had to replace zero part. The only thing I don't like about the Tunze is the strong narrow flow pattern. I've put an order on Tunze for the 6095 wide flow cover so that I can just swap the cover on my 6055 for wider flow pattern.
I guess it all depends on your rockwork and what you plan on keeping. But the good news is that both pumps will work with your P3. Tunze require only a cable. Vortech require a whole new module.

Nick, that is exactly what I needed to hear. I have the tank in my home office and I really do not want to add additional noise to it. I am going to order one tonight and go from there. Thank you.

Chad is right. You have to get the "controllable" ones like the 6055 or 6095. Not all stream are controllable.

Hmmm not so sure about that, the term stream from way back was synominous with Tunze controllable units, maybe that has changed? I have not looked for a good two years. But worth double checking with your vendor I think.

Michael, you are sort of correct!
They can all be controlled by the profilux (On off), however if you want variable flow, then you have to select the correct pump.
Tunze website has all the data to select the pump you may want.
As an example below are some of the models and whether variable flow or not.

Not variable flow
Nano Stream 6015
Nano Stream 6025

Stream 6065
Stream 6085
Stream 6125

Variable flow controllable
Nano Stream 6045
Nano Stream 6055
Nano Stream 6095

Stream 6105
Stream 6155

Just want to remind everyone who is interested in getting their Tunze to work with the Profilux and thinking of ordering these cable that you need a 1-10V spliter.
I made the mistake of ordering the Tunze 1 and Tunze 2 cable to work with my L5/L6 port without getting the splitting. After getting the cables today, I opened it up and try to plug it in the back of the Profilux. And right away, I knew I was missing something.
You need the splitter to split the L5/L6 port(single port in the back of the Profilux) into separate L5 and L6 for the two tunze cable.
You can go without the splitter if you have an extra Lx/Lx port but you'll be wasting two L port.

Hi guys,

I have 3 Tunze pumps.

X2 6305
X1 6105

What cables do I need and which sockets do they plug into?

Currently all L ports are free.

Want them to all run at the same time
With a ramp up and down.
