I have a 24 gallon, 150 watt metal halide, sps aquapod and i was wondering whether to purchase a hydor koralia 2 or a tunze nanostream 6025??? which do u think is better???

I own two 6025s and they are fantastic. Every Tunze product I have purchased has been of the highest quality and backed by great service. They carry a two year warranty and as you can read here Roger tries very hard to make sure his customers are satisfied.

I have no experience with the Koralia pumps. For all I know they could be just fine. However, if I may be so bold to compare streams to automobiles for a moment (just an illustration..lol).

This Mercedes Benz is of German engineering and comes with white glove service. Much like the Tunze products :) .

This Kia looks an awful lot like the Mercedes Benz and may come with decent service. And will get you from point A to point B. And made in Asia.

Both vehicles do similar things and look allot alike. But having driven both of these vehicles, the Mercedes definitely has the edge.

Bahh.. Just my two cents. People would complain that the Mercedes is overpriced. However, you do get what you pay for :)

You will not be disappointed with the 6025s.

Hi Mr Tangman,

Tunze is German and Hydor is from Itay! Both product has their pro and con. Hydor K2(2300l/h) size is bigger than tunze but the flow is widen/broader compare to tunze 6025(2500l/h).
Price wise..tunze is expensive than Hydor, but good point is small and compact that is wat's i love most.

I currently using K4 as supplement while waiting fo my 6055:mixed: .

Hope it help :p !

macawdad2003 so now that you know that hydor is made in italy try comparing an italian car to the mercedes like a phantom

Hi all,

I had a hydor in line heaters, and they didnt seem to be designed well....at least for advanced reefers!. I like my Fluvals though...m mmm .give me more of 'em! So, its the company vs. the origin country.

I was only making a comparison that the Kia looks like a much less expensive version of the Mercedes. While they share many of the same styling traits they will handle differently. LOL. I didn't mean to offend anyone with the origin of countries (being of Italian decent myself).

I only wanted to make the comparison that the Hydor looks like a less expensive version of the Tunze streams. Much like the Kia does to the Mercedes. You get similar styling for half the price: )

Again I can only speak for the 6025s and have no experience with the Hydor pumps. So I think it was probably not fair for me to voice my opinion in the first place. It was just an opinion based on speculation.

Hey Edwing206,

That's cool. I didn't want to come off as a snob or know it all. I had read the threads comparing the two in the equipment forum . It kept getting compared to the Tunze and it is like the Tunze. But I don't think it looks like a better mouse trap. Just a cheaper one :)

I see we share the same hobbies. Reefs and Guitars.

Currently not playing with anyone. Just playing for the wife, kids & a true perc clown :) . I've been playing for about 15 years and it is very rewarding.

I keep my guitars under the bed in their cases and my saddle valve that I had it hooked to gave way and soaked the carpet in the master bedroom. Had a Taylor koa grandconcert out leaning against an amplifier and the water wick came w/in a foot of probably ruining that guitar. Had a Gretsch and a PRS under the bed and only the outside of the cases got wet. That was just Friday evening.

They are both great pastimes. Just don't go together very well :) ..LOL

Keep rockin' & reefin'

Matt

I have 7 Hydor heaters of various sizes and not one of them works properly. Hydor replaced them all and the replacements dont work right either! It doesn't speak much for their manufacturing ability if they cant make a simple heater that works right.

My Tunzes on the other hand have never failed me.

One thing I've heard about the Hydors is that the stream comes out as a "V" and not uniform in front of the unit.
