tunze vs. vortech

Had my vortech running for about 24 hours now. Wow! Seems like Tunze are on the level, but this is an unbelievable difference over my koralias. Had 2 K4's and K3 which were a real pain to direct properly. No such issue with the vortech.

Also, my tank is in my bedroom. I was concerned about the ptoential noise, but it isn't an issue at all. I did notice that it was a little bit louder on the pulse wave settings than on the lagoon/reef modes, but not a problem for me to sleep either way. My tank looks so much more open now and with much better flow....great upgrade!

thanx for all the good info reefers i think at this point i will just flip a coin:confused:

Pretty much. Both work well. I have a 55 gallon, and use the MP20, It is silent. Upgradeable to the 40 if I choose.

I have a Tunze nano wavebox and 2 6055 nano streams on a 6 ft. 125 tk w the 7095 controller and 6091 wavebox controller. Tank is quiet and everything is happily swaying in motion. The tunze wavebox is definetely the best piece of equipment i have ever owned. I will never setup another 30+g tank without one. The nano streams & wavebox are dead quiet.

I cant say anything about the vortech's cause i haven't tried them out yet or even seen them in action live, but they look cool.

The longer I have my Vortech 40 the more I appreciate it. It's amazing piece of equipment and would definately recommend one to anybody. The flow is spectacular. I really like the controlability of the unit. I can simulate a reef crest, lagoon, and have short or long pulses. I can sync up slaves to follow exactly what the master is doing or have it be inverse.

tunze vs vortech....

tunze vs vortech....

i purchased two vortech md 40's in march of 2008 and i very much liked their size, output, wide flow and wave options. after only 9 months both wet sides rusted out and one controller went bad. after sending the units to eco-marine for service i was informed the controller was water damaged and not under warrantee and they want $100 to repair it. the controller was mounted under my stand and over my ballast and i cant imagine it ever getting wet there. i've since gone to over tunze and am much happier. the tunze are much quieter (you get used to the vortechs slight noise, but dont realize they are somewhat noisy until you use something much more quiet). i would have to believe the tunze are much better made and their controllers look much more water resistant ( i cant believe eco-marine made a controller for aquarium use that can't take a little splash, but then who would believe they'd make a wet side unit with metal parts that rust?...yes, i know they've supposedly corrected that now). while i loved the small space the vortechs took up in the tank, the fact you cant control flow direction and their appearant design/material flaws make tunze the way to go if you ask me.
