Tunze Wavebox 6208 DOA?

I just received my new Tunze Wavebox 6208, and I cannot get the thing to turn on - the pump fan does not even spin. For those with this or similar Tunze wavebox, should I assume that my unit is DOA? By the way, I did everything according to instruction, page by page, and only plugged it in when it had been already submerged to oscillation line.

Thanks for any help!

On rare occasion a power supply is DOA, but every pump is tested before it ships so that should be out of the question. I would first check that the pump is fully assembled, often the front propeller housing comes off in shipping and will bind the propeller so it cannot run. If you have another Tunze controllable pump, I would try a known working power supply from a known working pump.

Thanks for the solid info!

I actually just found this out late last night. I popped off the front of the box, readjusted the pump inside, and the wavebox started right up and is creating plenty of waves for my tank

The only odd thing is how much the plastic casing of the wavebox stinks. It smells of some toxic plastic, but I am sure this is not the case though I cannot verify as my tank is still devoid of life as of yet (just setting up). Is this normal?

We use top quality name brand plastic, the wavebox is BASF Polyamide, and it is one of the plastics we have used for decades. It has a stronger smell most likely because it was probably just made 2-3 weeks ago, we can't keep them in stock, as a result the smell is fresh, but it is non toxic. I must be crazy, but I actually love that smell, the injection molding room is one of my favorite at the factory.
