Hi ,

Have been a life long tunze fan and used only their stream pumps .
With a new build coming up for a deep tank of 48 inch length x 36 inch deep x 20 inch high , I have been thinking about using 2 tunze wave boxes - 6208 with 2-3 6105 ..

It's gonna be choked acropora reef only and hence the high flow .

So question is whether waveboxes will be great for choked acropora reef or is it better that I stick to only stream pumps or maxspect gyres ?

Regards,
Abhishek

Nothing moves water like a wave box. The best test for me was pouring coral frenzy on the opposite side of the wave box and watching it move across the 300DD. It was too much movement for my frogspawn so I ended up selling it. With all sps you can’t go wrong

48" tank is pretty short for a wavebox your waves will be very fast and short. I would stick with the regular tunze streams or vortechs on a 48" tank...but that's just IMO

Thanks a lot for the reply . Thought the waves made LPS and softies really enjoy it .

That is my biggest concern . Dropping 500+ on waveboxes - I was considering 2 to be run in alternate modes and then finding that they won't work will be such a waste of money .

Frogspawn love no flow at all but do require a current to bring them food. I learned this one day years ago I came home from work and my frogspawn were much larger then they normally were when I noticed my return pump was not working. I would think with a 4' tank and other pumps you may only need one wave box? FYI BRS has a used one for $217.00
