I just got off the phone with Tunze and it would appear that nano stream brackets made prior to 10/2007 have a known issue if you fiddle around with them like adjusting the direction of the power head they like to break. They changed the type of plastic they used to make them at that point in time and are quite happy to replace any defective ones.

Both of mine have broke when I was adjusting or taking them out to clean. I have one new one in the tank and another on the way to replace the other one that broke today.... Not pretty seeing a power head go zooming around your tank!!!!!

I have seen countless threads of people posting this problem in the Tunze forum of this board. Roger (Tunze rep I believe) has been very accommodating of this issue. Actually, seeing how he handled that situation plus the many posts I have seen giving credit to Tunze customer service is what led me to get a Tunze Stream over the Vortec.

yea i had a nano stream with a bad clip and a bad shaft. He replaced the motor block and sent a new clip.

If you purchased your nano stream when they first came out make sure the steel shaft doesnt wiggle! If it does it needs to be replaced.
