Turaki's placement?

Hello Everyone,

Two weeks ago I bought a piece of Turaki from the petstore and placed it about 5 inches above the sand bed. Since it is a deep water sps, I was afraid that too much light would bleach it, so I raised my 6 bulbs 54watts ATI Sunpower to 9 inches above the water line (Standard 75 gallons tank with 21" Height). Anyway two weeks has gone by and it is doing great and growing a tiny bit. I want to lower my light back down to normal (5 inches above the water line).
Do you think it can handle that much change in light?
Should I move it to a shaded area a bit and move it back to its original place in a week or two?

Or just leave it alone in its original spot and see if it would bleach out or grow and react based on the situation?

Thanks,
Bao

Mine is currently about 5 inches off the sandbed under 400w 20k MHs. Its getting about 350 par where it is at, with medium turbulent flow.

IMO you're fine to move the lights back down. Just keep a close eye on it for signs of stress.

My turaki is about 4" from the sand under 8 t5s in a 24" deep tank. I think it all depends on what the coral came from...if you want it higher you can always slowly raise it up and acclimate it to the higher intensity. My hawkins was 12" under 400w radiums so I put it in my tank about 10" from the light and its holding color but not that deep color a hawkins has...I may lower if it it doesnt deepen in the next couple weeks.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies.
I was a bit worry so I decided to make another pair of hooks to hang the wire and just lowered my light by 2 inches. I will wait for a week and move the light to its final position that is 5 inches above the water line.
