every coral/system is different as far as polyp extension. Corals feed at night in the wild so that is what it is used to. Sure looks healthy to me.

my tubinaria ( pictured, although not same sp. as yours ) does not extend polyps during the day but only at night. I am not sure why maybe others can speak up. I know it is not due to pickers since all my other corals have great P.E.

I notice very good growth and mine does not need much light, it is now placed on bottom of tank w/ 250 hqi's. Great coral BTW. I saw one about 1 foot in diameter at a local reefers house and it was amazing.

Have you only had it for the 2 weeks and it is a wild piece? In the wild, most corals only extend polyps at night to feed and retract them in the day. Too many polyp picking fish in the day. Give yours time and it should extend in the day as well once it settles into your tank.

Yours could just be settling in. I had some chemistry issues in my tank last year and it took my Turbinaria about 10 months to look happy again. The polyps on mine were retracted all the time for several months and now after some TLC is back to looking good again. I even had die off in the center that is growing back again. Here is my Turbinaria ( a different type than yours ) in the day.

Give yours time and under good conditions and I am sure it will extend day and night for you.
