Question:
When a snail dies does it usually loose that cover ( pearl ) that covers him up?
I have a Mexican Turbo that hasnt moved in a week.
Pulled him out, he is retracted, but doesnt stink, and I know that smell!!!
All water tests are good

Sometimes they don't lose the operculum when they die, but I don't think I've ever seen a dead one that would pass the smell test....

Don

like i said, no smell, and a small turbo almost made me pitch and i have a good stomach. this one is 1.5 inches across. I pulled him out and nudged the operculum and observed no knee jerk movement. Thx

I had one die and close up like that. It closed up tight, and I thought it was still alive. After about 2 weeks of not moving I pulled it out and it had a very light smell of death. Well I pulled the operculum back and brown juice came flying out onto my shirt. Needless to say, that wasn't very fun.

Yah, so there is a possibility it's dead. Just leave it and if it doesn't move in another couple week then just throw it away.
