Turbo snails dieing

Ok i originally bought all at once 3 months ago 3 Turbo snails, 3 emerald crabs, 3 nassaris Snails, 2 cleaner shrimp, and 3 Scarlett hermit crabs. Now all my inverts are going strong except all 3 Turbo snails have died off within a week. 1 day mowing down algae next day not moving at all for days. then dead.

Stinks because they have kept my algae at bay. Biggest help in my clean up crew. I want to just go out and buy 3 more and throw them in but i'm afraid to bring Ick into my system. Now i have to put up a QT tank and keep the turbos there for 72+ days. Issue with that is being able to keep them alive to even make it to the DT.

So my question is do Turbo Snails just not last to long in a reef tank. Is it normal to live a short life. I here they like cooler waters?

Do you have a grounding rod in you tank? Could it be stray voltage?
I had a similar problem, the turbos seemed to be the most sensitive to it.

] What size tank are they in, what I mean is that's a lot of algae eaters and they could be starving to death as they where most like starving in the LPS

Why are QTing a snail?

120 gallon and there is plenty of algae for them to eat. Thats why i'm missing them. They were actually making some headway on the algae.

I will QT the snails because the Ick Tomont can ride on the shell of a snail. Now i put that snail in my tank and that's when it releases its eggs and now my tank has Ick. Not taking that chance.

No grounding Rod.

Grounding rods are inexpensive, go with a titanium, they Remove any stay voltage from the tank

How would you be acclimating them to the tank? Snails/inverts are the most fussy about this and need adequate time for adjusting. They should take the longest to acclimate, even thought they are the cheapest to buy. You will find mixed reviews about this that some people don't acclimate at all except for temperature, and others do acclimation. Personally I acclimate everything but snails not for very long because I know the tank. Lets pretend that you buy snails from an immaculate tank that has pretty good water chemistry and a PH that they like, then you move them immediately into a tank that has brown bubble algae with a PH differential and high nitrites/phosphates...Also if you bought the creatures online and they shipped they could have been in shock. (There is not much to hold on to inside a plastic bag, not to mention no snacks.)
A lot of little factors come into play that most people don't take into consideration, like the stray voltage..., definitely check that, the majority of culprits would be the pump.
Saltwater will have some nominal stray voltage because of the nature of saltwater but nothing a normal voltmeter would pick up.
Sounds like there is a lot of algae, do you know what type? (is it green, brown, does it have bubbles?) Check out the algae 1st.
Woopse...scratch that....test the water chemistry 1st, (nitrates, trite, calcium, alk....) Post results.
Sounds like they live for a couple days then die. They probably get sick because of the acclimation time is not long enough, they get sick and die.
Also turbos will topple and give up. They are not prone to survival because they know they are doomed if they topple.:spin1:
They should be able to grow to monsters in a 125 gallon, of course they need adequate algae, and good chemistry. If you have a lot of algae check your water, might be another issue. You can post your results.
