Any one been down there? I am going down in May and wanted to see if anyone knew of some good spots to check out. Reef related or not. Thanks

I went to Turks a few years ago in May...Great time to go. We stayed at Beaches on Grace Bay...decent place....

The water is amazing!!! I only snorkeled but it was really cool. The coral gardens are a protected reef that you can snorkel around right from shore....Saw all kinds of stuff....I would recommend getting an underwater digital for sure.

Went on one excursion and snorkeled the reef in open water...also searched for sand dollars off I think Pine Cay.....as far as sealife I saw turtles, cudas, a shark, anemones, urchins dolphins and every fish you can imagine.....I was told that I saw more snorkeling then some did on dive trips...but I spent a lot of time in the water.....Have fun and if you would like any other info let me know...

We were there last August and I thought the diving was great. Lots of wall diving. If you don't have kids I would avoid Beaches, everyone referred to it as the zoo. I dove with Caicos Adventures and would recommend them, they let you do your own thing if you like or with a dive master if you prefer. Nice big comfy cat boat. They head out to West Caicos and the smaller outer islands where the vis is great and lots of critters.

Was there year before last. It's really a neat place. We went to coral gardens, and we also took a boat trip out to the barrier reef. The best place we found was right off of the beach near turtle cove near the public beach access and the private homes (ask the Gecko drivers where to go). Great coral in relatively shallow water accessible from shore. We were there for three hours and were the only people in the water the whole time.

The BBQ place at the Turtle Cove marina was pretty good as well, and there is a neat place out by where we stayed where they farm conch commercially. Have a good time!

coralfever let me know how it goes, heading there this August with the wife and kids, beaches resort is highly recommended for the kids.

Stayed at Beaches a few years ago...didn't have the kid but there was lots for the kids to do and i believe there were people to even keep an eye on them if you wished. i would suggest bringing snorkel gear for everyone. When you are at the resort and walk out to the ocean turn to the left and walk down to the coral gardens (not really very far). It is a reef that is bouyed off right off shore. You can take the kids out in literally 6 ft of water and show them fish, corals, sponges, anemomies and whatever else you may see. Swim out a little further and I saw turtles, rays puffers, a 6ft cuda, and all sorts of fish and sponges. If you can I would also suggest the day trip you sign up for at beaches. Its like $150 a person but so worth it!!! Its an all day boat trip that goes out and has multiple stops, such as finding your own live conch, eating the animal and keeping the shell (its really good in a salad) and snorkeling in crystal clear waist deep water for sand dollars. There is also a stop out at the reef in open water where I saw a shark lots of queen angels and a ton of black triggers. The resort is pretty nice. Even though they say not to - leave a buck or two with a note for housekeeping staff daily and you will get a lot better service (extra pillows, water, or anything else you may ask for). Be wary of locals hanging out at the resort beach that will try and talk you into smuggling beer or food to them. Other than that the island is beautiful, safe, and very friendly!!! Have fun!
