Turning green

What causes acros to get a green color to them? I have some corals that aren't turning green like a red planet, a setosa, a purple monster and some other purple acros and some birdsnest and millis. I have a "blue dazzler" that is nothing but blue. I also just recently bought a white acro with blue tips, been in the tank about 2 weeks or so and it has now turned green but has kept the blue tips. I also had a reddish milli that has turned greenish but still with reddish hairs on it. also got a blue green tenius that was more on the pale blue side now and now it is pretty much a green tenius

I have a 400w mh, radium bulb + 4 t5s

I have no nitrates and hopefully very low phosphates as I have been dosing vodka and haven't a spot of algae anywhere

my calcium is 420, alk is 8.5 and mg is ~1400

what's causing this? Thanks

Oh I also have a 30g sump with a reef octopus skimmer, the 200 model I think. And I also run a phosban reactor.

depends on the spectrum of your bulb and the par recieved by the coral. lower par and higher spectrums seem to bring out greens. higher pars bring out more blues

I have a 20k radium.. 32" deep tank.. The green corals are at all different levels in my tank. And my newest coral, the one that was white with blue tips is still in the frag rack not under direct light

Elevated Iron FE or Iodine. or SI ! I have found.

is your source water TDS zero ?

what salt mix do you use ?

Yea 0 tds and I am using instant ocean. Do around 15g water change every week on about 110g total. I do have a new bucket of coralife salt I will be using after the instant ocean is almost done.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but tagging along to see what answers people come up with...

Glad someone else is curious about it. I'm sure someone knows why it's happening but they don't want to tell the secret
