turning up the heat on ICH

It was suggested to me that slowly raising the temperature in my reef tank to 82 degrees would help kill off the ICH that has appeared in my tank. Any advice would be appreciated before I try this approach.
Thanks
Ed

Raising the temp is said to accelerate the life cycle of the parasite. It won't actually kill it off but it can speed up treatment.

what was the source of that suggestion?

Probably someone with fresh water experience. Freshwater ich (completely different parasite) will die off in warmer water...although even then 82 is probably not warm enough.

Thanks for your responses. The idea came from a friend who has alot of experience in fresh and marine tanks, but he is self taught. That's why I came here before I followed his suggestion.
