After being out of the marine aquarium hobby for 20 years I am intrigued by the leaps in technology especially when it comes to invertabrae aquariums. The last aquarium I had was a 55 gallon with an undergravel with powerheads and a Magnum 330 canister filter. I was able to keep anenomes with some success but it was a PITA.
My wife and I have decided to buy another aqaurium for the living room and I want to eventually build a reef. We want to have a decent volume of water to keep things more stable. We are looking at a 50-75 gallon setup. Can one buy turnkey sump setups or is the only alternative to design and build them yourself? We have to order online as there are no local dealers to dole out advice.
I would like to find out before I buy a tank because I will buy one predrilled with the intake partitioned if I can get a turnkey sump. But if I have to build it I may consider other filtration options. I don't mind plumbing it, but I live in a fairly remote rural area and do not want the hassle of having to run back and forth to buy pieces/parts as my trial and error runs go awry.
Thanks in advance!
