I ordered a powerhead listed as 300 gph, do you think that is a bit overkill? I'm not going to keep sps in it, it is a ten gallon. I'm aiming at softies and lps. Thanks for your replies.

its not exactly overkill, just dont give anything that much direct flow in a tank that size. mount it on the back glass and bounce the waterflow off the glass.

Or you can hook up a Y fitting to it so the flow is divided to two different directions.
