I have a tuxedo urchin who I don't see often. Saw him today and he is covered in purple death plays. Do I pull them off somehow or just let it be?

you can do either - had one that would go pick up all the random bits of rock and palys around my tank.

Once I week I would collect its haul by gently brushing them off with my fingers
