Twin Spot Hogfish

Anyone have any experience with these fish? Most of the things I read say they are reef safe like this: http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/hogfish/candyhogwrasse/

I have a scissor tail goby, purple firefish, yellow clown goby, royal gramma, ocellaris clown, peppermint shrimp, and blood shrimp.

I had one in my 65, really cool fish. Great color and personality. One problem I found was that if I tried to introduce any wrasses it would chase and or kill them almost immediately. I had to catch him and he lives in a friends tank now. It was a great fish with the fish already present in the tank, just new additions it had a problem with.

i currently have one and have had no issues with new addiitions. IMO a reef safe fish.

Awesome fish and perfect for the reef. Make sure the tank is covered. I lost mine to a carpet surfing episode when I was away for a couple of days. Real sad. I'd get another but my Mystery would not like it, I'm sure. Not the best pic but this was him.

Awesome fish. Have had mine for over a year with a Malanurus Wrasse which is to large for him to tackle. Keep a lid on- lost my first to carpet surfing!

I love mine. The only issues that I have are the jumping, and the fact that he killed my cleaner shrimp within the first week.

I found this fish to be a very aggessive pod eater, as well as aggressive toward two fire fish that I put in the tank. I had to completely take my whole tank apart in order to remove him. Very attractive fish though. Maybe they do better in bigger tanks with bigger fish, mines only 58gal.

i had one for sometime and i really liked it never had a problem with it going after any other wrasses..did not like my firefish though..i did see it eating off the rock quite a bit so i guess it was after pods..my lfs had a pair in the other day..i did not know that got as big as they do..man that male was huge

Did it kill your firefish or did they learn to get along after a while? My firefish is my biggest concern.

i currently just bought one a long with a lime green coris wrasse. The next day my lime green coris was dead. Then i threw in the rest of my other fish and it started to chase my sixline. Now the hog is behaving and getting a long with others.
