Twinspot Goby... Menace in a small package

So, 4 months ago I brought home a pair of cute twinspot gobies. After 4 days of seeming happiness one disappeared and things went downhill. The remaining twinspot slowly stopped looking cute while gobbling sand and started to rearrange things. I thought my jawfish were bad until this little guy decided to bury any living thing on the sand.

He no longer sifts sand across the bottom and will nip at any fish, no matter how big, that comes close to him. He eats whatever food I put in the tank and doesn't seem interested in anything besides digging giant holes in my DSB.

So far I’ve lost a bright red open brain, a few mushrooms, some zoos and a clam to his love to bury things.

Anyone else have one of these loveable fish I now hate?

Looks tiny compared to that mandarin in the background. I've never heard of them moving THAT much sand, but I guess each fish is different. FWIW, I'd be happy, since most people can't keep this fish alive more than a few months without LOTS of attention to their feeding requirements.

the fish buried a clam

I bought a new clam and had it on the sand while it acclimated to my system. The goby started by digging a burrow under the clam. I thought it was harmless because i've had several jawfish do this before. But then he kept digging and started spitting the sand on top of the clam. The clam eventually dissappeared under the sand. I didn't notice the clam missing for a couple days and when i pulled it out, it never recovered.

RIP one 4.5" teardrop maxima

This little goby gets bored every now and then and can dig a huge hole in a couple hours.

Unfortunately my girlfriend loves the little guy and won't let him go. I have to admit, it's facinating to watch any fish that spits sand. However, I really wanted a long tentacle plate coral, but it would surely get buried.
