Two different color monti caps growing together how common? Pics

Hey all, I have had these two caps growing together in my display for a long time now and just now got around to playing with them. How common is this? Please if anyone has any pics of montis growing together without any dead white spots in between then please post, would love to see them. These two seem to not bother each other at all and just did some more fragging tonight to try and get some pretty cool patterns. This first pic is of the frag that grew together in my display....

This next pic is of a frag that I put together about a month ago and let them grow together for awhile and now I got this....

i think it really helps to have the same species...I have known others to try with caps of different types and one just takes over the other....well done on your success!

That is common in my tank. I have a green and a red growing together and a purple and red growing together.

My purple kills my green. I have not tried red with either yet.

Chris- Thats a cool pic. Where they were touching was there a white dead area? My other caps and encrusting montis kill each other and one usually over takes the other. My sunset kills my pokerstar and my rainbow kills my superman. That green and orange cap in your pic could very well be the two that I'm growing. I know you bought some cap frags from me before.

I'm going to try and grow my purple rim green cap into these frags and see what happens, also might try a purple cap too. Here are some pics of some frag I cut up last night, can't wait to see what these grow into....

What a cool idea. I was gonna suggest Chris'(CMcNeil's) caps. Keep us posted on the new frag idea. That should be breath taking when it grows together.

Emmett, I have 6 different caps in my QT and Joe and I have been discussing that idea for a couple of weeks. I placed a purple rim green cap next to a purple cap in the display a couple weeks ago and will see what happens. I'm going to do that with some of the caps in the QT also. I'll leave the Idaho Grape, Tyree Pink Polyp, and the Leng Sy out of the mix until they're large enough to frag.

I would love to hear about what happens, please keep me informed. I will try and frag my purple rim green cap , orange cap, peach cap and purple cap tomorrow and glue them up. I will be like Mike and leave the LE stuff alone for now ; )

They just grow together. They do no harm to each other.

I'll get a picture but I combined my purple and a really ultra green cap and they are now growing into each other with no burning. You can actually see where each has encrusted onto each other.
