two easy questions??

1. I was thinkin about getting some kind of device to run carbon... would a Phosban Reactor or an Aqua Clear power filter work better?

2. Can someone please explain how an aqualifter pump works? I see them used for many different applications, ie: topoff, overflows, etc. but how exactly does it work and why are they so cheap? Is it safer to use for an auto-topoff system than a maxi-jet?

Thanks, Mike

The aqualifters are great for cpr overflows. It's basically a little powerhead only you put the small tubing in on both the intake and outtake and hook it up to the siphon on the overflow box. This keeps a constant siphon on the overflow and if your power goes out it will automatically start the siphon on the overflow again.

Once again,

CPRs do NOT lose siphon on a power outage-- that is one time they don't break siphon...

they do however draw air bubbles in when running due to their design the water doesn't flow fast enough to push them through-- so air can accumulate in them-- the aqualifter pump can bue used to draw out this air-- I happen to use a powerhead next to the box with a short piece of tubing between the powerheads venturi and the fitting on my box... works fine.

I'm not sure what else they can be used for....

alright, so the question was a little understood. I have no desire to use an aqualifter on a CPR overflow, i was just mentioning some places i have seen them used. What i was asking was how are they used with auto topoffs, like melev's for example. And also if they would be safer to use than the maxi-jet i am using now? Also i still what would be better for running carbon, a phosban reactor or and aquaclear filter?

Thanks, Mike
