Two Little Fishes Phosphate Reactor

I got one of these for a steal, and have had off an on issues with phosphates. the issue I have is the amount of material to place inside it.

I got it to run a limited amount of carbon as a supplement and ferric oxide. So I picked up Chemi-Pure Elite which is 11.74 oz. The directions says to put in 150g to 200g. When I look at the chemipure it's 333gram. So Clearly I need to cut it down. The issue is this is just a tiny amount compared to the large size of the reactor, and phosban would be the same.

What gives? I guess I am not understanding how to load this properly, do I push the sponge all the way down to hold it in place or do I let it free float in the chamber? The directions are exactly clear on this.

flow is very low so yes, add one more sponge to top(cut yourself)it goes above the red plate, the material free floats just do not move the surface hardly at all or phosban can cause dust
