Two types same tank

I've noticed that some people here keep more than one type of anemone in their tanks. I don't plan to do so, as my tank is far too small for this type of thing. (I've heard all of the warnings regarding chemical warfare and such.)

However, I have been fascinated by this ever since seeing a picture where two different anemones were so close to each other in the same tank, they were pretty much touching.
For those of you who do manage two or more types of anemones in the same tank, I was wondering how you do so and whether you could show pictures.

Thanks!

I am not doing this, but from what I have seen, tank size seems to be a major factor. In a large tank you can get away with this kind of thing.

I am doing it in my 75. Have two Haddonis and 3 ( just split from 1 ) BTAs.

Up until the split I had no issues at all --- 7 months for all 3, 2 years for one of the haddoni and bta --- but now one of the clones is moving, and getting to close to one of the carpets. From past experience, the BTA will win, so I am going to remove ( or attempt too ) that clone.

EDIT --- I ran carbon 24/7 change it out about every 2 weeks or so. Do a weekly 5 gallon water change. Skim on the wet side.

I've been looking for a post that JetCat USA put in a thread a couple days ago showing, I believe, his 29 gallon tank that had 4 different anemones all on the left side of the tank, side by side, touching.

I'm sure he'll provide better detail. I know there was a carpet (I think it was a haddoni), I believe a H. crispa, a rock anemone (Epicystis crucifer), and something else I can't remember, I think a lta?.

I have three anemones in the same tank. Two bubble tips and what I believe to be a lta, but it's only about 1.5'' when fully expanded and bleached so I'll have to determine what it is when it gets bigger. I do a weekly ~20% pwc and run chemi-pure because I have a ever growing cabbage leather, that I'm going to frag again...

I have 3 RBTA a a blue HAddoni in my 46 bow and all has been good had the bta for 3 yrs and the HAddoni for about a mth and a half and all is weel i run carbon change every 3 weeks and pwc about 15 gall every 2 weeks also skim like crazy ill try to post some pics later it time to goto work and stopm playing

Intreresting.. Why do you guys all skim on the wet side? Is there something that the Amenones release that requires this extra skimming?

Yes people here mention chemical warfare (release of toxins into the water) between anemones of different species (similar to what softies do).

So heavy skimming and the use of carbon remove the toxins from the water.

I'm upgrading my skimmer to one for a 180 gallon tank (my tank is only 55 gallons) this weekend and run a canister filter with carbon and Seachem matrix. But I don't change much water at a time. Maybe I should, since NSW is inexpensive and convenient here. (Unfortunately, storing the NSW when it arrives is a pain...)

Oddly enough, yesterday after getting great replies in this thread, I got an offer to buy an amazing red haddoni, which I took. I thought about whether to keep both the sebae and the haddoni in the tank, but have decided against it and will give (no refunds or trades) the sebae back to the store.

After reading most local literature about anemones, it seems that many people here do keep several types of anemones in the same tank. However, unlike more responsible reefers in other parts of the world, people here don't seem as bothered by short lifespans. One amusing blog I found was of a guy who kept adding anemones several at a time and wondering why they died.... (He was using only PC lighting on a gigantea, btw.)

Most people seem to think that the Haddoni is easier to keep here, so I thought it smarter to keep just that.

(Now my big question is how do I get the anemone back to the store? Can I just scoop it into a bag and rush into a cab?)

I currently have 2 rose lta's, 1 green lta, and 1 green bta in my 75 gallon and haven't had any issues. I agree with the wet skimming though and the use of carbon, so if they are attacking then at least you are pulling out most of the chems.

Its possible. I had three pairs in my 120 a couple of years back, but you have to make sure if there is an anemone, each pair has one they are happy with. No looking to switch. And some clown are more docile than others. I had a pair of True Percs, Nigripes and Gold Barred Marroons. the Nigripes and Percs existed very happily within a foot of one another while the marroons had to be on the complete opposite side of the tank (about 3 1/2 feet apart) from the other clowns.

I have a green LTA and a H. Crispa that live side by side and touch with no problems.
My clowns just act like they added an addition onto their home :)
