Two wavebox questions

I finally can afford one of these, im wanting to know which place i should put my name on the waiting list, that will probably get them the quickest?

Also, for the moment until i can upgrade. Im stuck with my standard 75g... Is this too narrow to have a wavebox in?

I think as long as it's 4ft long, you okay. You're gonna love this thing. Just make sure you have a solid stand and tank. This thing will slosh some water around!!

I am using mine in a 75, no problem, the wave is about 3/4" tall. The wait will be about the same everywhere.

One other question, when i upgrade i plan to do my overflow on the side of my tank. So i can do my tank 3 sided.

Some things im wondering about this before i have it made...

Should i have them cut the notches longer, because im afraid there wont be enough water going down to keep up with my return. Because it looks like in the video there is an interval where no water is going down the overflow each time the wave goes to the other side. Any other suggestions to be done to my overflow to prevent this? Or should i be fine?

Sean,

The best solution to this I have seen posted, and I have done myself, is have your overflow box in the center. You mentioned that you wanted viewable form 3 sides, well, that may make this difficult. I can tell you however from talkin to a few people about this, that it may not be a big concern for internal overflow boxes as the wave moves fast enough that you dont really lose flow (you may have less water at one moment into the box, but the next moment you have a wave pouring into it)

That being said, I can see issues if you have an external box. As you mentioned, it may lose siphon, depending on the depth of the teeth. I am sure Roger can provide some better insight on this specific case.

Robert.

P.S. Hope the skimmer got there ok.

I am using a hang on overflow and you have to center it on the back. Ideally the overflow would be in the center or one on each end. As Saldyra said though, it usually will work provided the flow through the overflow is not so much and you use a Durso pipe.

I plan to have my overflow on the side of my tank, not in the middle. It will pretty much take up the whole entire sides, and im going to go with 4 1.5 inch bulkheads, so i have a lot of drainage to work with, and in case i decide i want to run a closed loop later. But for now im just going be running a sequence 4200 under my tank. This will be a internal oveflow.

I orginally planned to go with durso standpipes to help with noise. But what else would you advise using?

You are asking things beyond my experience. I am concerned that the pump you are using would outstrip the supply capability of the overflow box during the trough of the wave. Maybe someone who has some experience could chime in but my method has always been a low flow sump, it just works better and is quieter and uses much less electricity, I work with 3-5 times turnover an hour through my sumps and can only say with this turnover you will not have a problem. All my other flow is always from Turbelle Powerheads or Streams.
