Would a 60 watt incandescent plant grow lightbulb be sufficient for a small ~14gallon refugium? I was thinking chaeto.

about the question above, somebody can tell us what is the minimun type of light (Kelvin degrees and wattage) to grow benefical macroalgae in a tank? thanks

rspar,

That will give some growth, but if you could set up one a PC type light system you will get even better growth.

Carlos,

The kelvin is pretty irrelevent. The low K bulbs have the necessary spectrum along with the other colors that you don't need. The higher K bulb just have the other colors reduced or absent to give the bluer look. So for a refugium I would go with the cheapest bulb that has the desired intensity.

The wattage question is a little more variable. It will depend on the size area being lit, the types of macro's being grown as well as what type of lighting is being used.
