Typhoon III direct to sump--kalk question

I've got my RO/DI plummed direct to my sump with the float that came with it. I know alot of people say this is not good because the float could stick and flood.

I've not had any problems and like not having to do anything for top-off.

if I keep it this way how can I incorporate kalk into this setup? the less work the better..........

thanks

You can run your top off through a Kalk Reactor.

I guess you could run your RO/DI right through the reactor.

Here's how mine works. The yellow tall thingie on the right is the reactor.

Good luck. :)

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of that, I know I shouldnt say it in this hobby, but cost is a concern. any DYI options?

I use a ReefTek kalk reactor, not overly expensive and works great. I have a 10 gallon reservior that is 3.5" wide that I kee behing the tank. I don't fill it directly from my RO/DI, but it's an option. I just pour 5 gallons into it whenever it needs it.

Go onto the DYI forum and ask about a kalk reactor. There are lots of them over there. If you like to DYI, great, but consider the cost versus the convenience. IMHO I'm a convenience guy... lol

ok, great..........yeah, my main concern is convenience and ease. what kind of water pressure do you need to go thru a reator? my ro/di is in the basement 1 floor below the tank, just the water pressure from my well pushing the water up.

anyone else?

thanks Fishie, keep it coming

Scholl, I don't think you need any "pressure' per se. The reactor is full of water, so when you add a small amount of additional water, the reactor water - kalk mixture - is forced out and into the sump.
But try email one of the suppliers of Kalk reactor. This is what I use: http://www.reeftek.com/Nilsen_Reactor.htm
