typhoon protein skimmer

I have one and I like it beacause it is built well, skims well, and is inexpensive ($68 drfosters). It does not havea a collection cup so you hang a hose off of it into a milk jug or some other such container. When you turn it off to clean it you MUST unhook the hose, get the unit running, then hook the hose back on or a siphon may start. That is my only gripe about the unit, otherwise it works very well for what it is. Check out my gallery for some (tiny) pics.

I'v had one for a little over a month now and works great. But may overflow in the event of a power outage. Learned that the hard way

I think someone mentioned putting a T on the skimmate tube to prevent siphon formation. I have not tried this, but it might work.

so are ya'll getting the brown skinmate, and could you hang it on the back of a HOB refugium (would that work)
