Hi,
I am selling an original Tyree Aquascene Goldeneye chalice mini-colony. It has 13 eyes and is growing extremely well. If you are interested in a watermelon type chalice this is one of the best looking out there. If you are the type to go after a nice sized piece instead of a little frag then this is the deal for you.
I now have three pieces of this coral, and I figure it is about time to part with one of them. I originally acquired this back in 2006 and I can prove lineage. I have sold several pieces of this over the years, and I still make a few small frags here and there. While the price on this has gone down over the last few years, I am still getting $50 for a large 1 eye frag (or two smaller eyes) quite easily when people see it in my tank (and I have seen it sold for much more than that elsewhere).
This is somewhat of a unique coral because Steve Tyree lost his original piece. There are many similar watermelon type chalices out there, but this one can attain some very impressive fluorescent colors.
With the way this is growing it could easily be chopped into 3 or 4 nice, multi-eyed frags. I would rather try to sell this to someone interested in getting a mini-colony type size.
This piece is only about the size of a golf ball, but it has a healthy green rim and is growing quickly. This piece will be a substantial colony in no time.
Since the eyes on this one are fairly small (because of the rapid growth lately) I am pricing this lower than I would if it were a larger piece with full-sized eyes.
I am asking $200 and I can plan a trip to meet you in the Oldsmar area of Tampa. I am in Ocala if you happen to be located closer to me and/or would like to see my tanks. I also travel to Orlando and Fort Myers with some regularity, in case you are located elsewhere in Florida.
The first pic is of the actual piece for sale. I just shot this pic tonight, but the color looks a little washed out due to the lighting (4xT5's) in my frag tank. The second pic shows the mother colony of this piece a couple years ago when I had it under Radiums (that piece grew considerably and the piece that is for sale now was a frag from it). I still have the mother colony, which now has 50+ eyes. The mother colony is now in my main tank under Elos 20k, but the lights were already off when I got the itch to post this thing up. If you are interested in seeing other pics taken under different lighting over the years I can look through my old pics to see what I have. I can tell you that this coral loves LED's and also really likes the Radiums. I am getting excellent growth under the T-5's, but I don't think the color is nearly as impressive as it could be.
I haven't been very active on the boards in quite some time due to having several jobs and a baby at home, but I have sold and traded with many people all over the country here on RC and I'm sure you can find a ton of positive feedback.
Thanks for looking!
Ed
