I run the skimmer so oxygen drops are unlikely. I don't have a dsb. It was just detritus

On the parasite front they don't usually suddenly drop dead. The fish literally were fat healthy and swimming one day. Dead the next.

That's very similar to the other cases of contaminants that I've seen. And, as in those cases, the corals have tended to do fine.

I was just hit with what I suspect was oodinium. Everyone was eating fine, then in a 48hr period, I had 5 dead fish. It could easily happen, I wouldnt rule it out.

I agree with Steve that this is less likely with the symptoms.

One I fear - you put Topspot or similar flea and tick med (pesticide) on the dog, and some time later when you have forgotten about it run your hands through the dog's fur and then put them in the tank. I don't know how long the meds can be transferred from the dog's coat.

Odd, but how big is your tank? If the 32" cube in your sig is what you are talking about, you may have over stocked and one of your may have gone rouge? Not an expert but I don't think 32" is enough room for all of the fish you had. Sorry for your losses. Just thought I would ask abou the size.

140g cube? All the fish are super small. Personally I am not an advocate of that tang police crowding garbage. Again, I highly doubt ammonia spike. I am wondering about external contaminant. The fish look MUCH better this afternoon. I think I'm over my losses.....but wow that was an buttock kicking.

soapfish? Naw. Newbie I didn't think you were being rude. Just some people are pretty militant about crowding, and I am NOT one of those. Course I wouldn't stick a naso in their either.
