uh.... is this bad? cause it looks bad

i put this green bubbletip nem in my tank yesterday and all was good, it drip was aclimated then when placed in the tank wandered off to sulk behind the rocks. then it inflated and looked great..... from behind the rocks.... woke up same thing all day until about ten minutes ago when it looked like this... still does

is this normal or should i remove the anemone from the tank before it nukes the whole thing?

Although I've not personally seen a dead or dying nem, that fits the description. Does it smell bad? If so, yank it!

The ones i've seen that looked like that died. I would keep a very close eye on it.

That looks like an anemone melt down to me. I've never actually seen one do it. I guess I'm like amazon4, never seen it before but sure looks like the description of a melt down. If it is, sorry for your loss. I sure wouldn't want that to happen to my nem.

I had a LTA die and you will definatly know by smelling it.

Pull it out of the water and smell it. You'll know if it's dead or not.

Take the whole rock out, don't try to remove it from what it's attatched to. How many other things are in the tank? Doesn't look like a gonner to me, yet, but pics sometimes aren't accurate. How did it look when you got it? It's only been 1 day so far, right?

ok i took it out and didnt smell anything, it looked perfect when i got it, yeah one day, and the other livestock is
a bunch of SPS corals high on the rocks, a Crocea clam, a Maxima clam, a pepermint shrimp, 1 bangaii cardinal, 1 blue chromis 1 true perc, one lawnmower blenny, hermits snails 1 emerald crab, and a couple torch corals on the other side of the tank. not to much goin on right now.

see the big round boulder on the bottom left side of the tank.. it attached to the back of that boulder... that sucked... by the way this is the pic from the first few weeks almost two years ago... tank looks much different now.

I wouldn't worry about it yet. I've had them recover looking much worse that that. It may deflate a couple more times in the next week during acclimation. I have 3 BTA in 1 tank, 2 never deflate (clones), and 1 deflates every day to expel waste. Lived like that for the past year.

How bad did it look when you put it in there? While I would give it another day or two, I would go out of town.

This isn't part of the normal settling in process, something was wrong with it before hand, or something is wrong with your tank. What are your current water parameters? ( with numbers )

im no expert, but if you took it out of the water and smelled it and didn't throw up either you have a nasal problem or your nem might be trying to expell its insides (poop). i had a condy that turned inside out for a day or so. he might be just shocked at the different water... hope all works out for you.

Generaly in my experience they will let go when they die

sweetness... i came home from working in the field to this. its on the oposite side of the tank now because i took the anemone out of the tank before i read to take the rock its atached to out... so i placed it on this side because it would have to crawl all the way back to get behind the rock work again.
for the reccord water params are
Nitrate 0
calcium 430
phos= undetectable
KH 9
ph 8.6

well that was shortlived sucess... i went and took a shower and now its all deflated and practically inside out again.... what would be causing this?

this anemone looks pretty bleached to me as well... will that turn around if it survives?

It definitely looks rough, but I would give it more time. I have seen them come in that condition quite often while at the LFS. Many of them survived and did fine if they had the appropriate conditions, but there's no guarantee, of course. I would just observe it carefully for now.

Second that. Just watch carefully for a while and leave it to do its thing. As said before, you'll definitely smell it when it's gone.

Just leave it to acclimate for a few days and see if it stops throwing tantrums.

Oh. Personally, I think your pH is a little high. I'd settle for a comfortable 8.0. 8.6 is a little high for my comfort zone.

Though, I'm no expert. But that might be a contributor...?
