It's Dr. Goodluck Himself
Ok, so here's the situation. I bought an H. Cosmetus from an online shop. They sent me an H. Claudia. The shop has done right by me but I did not see the mis-identification until too late -- the Claudia was in the display and capturing it is nigh on impossible.
2 weeks later I found a gorgeous H. Cosmetus, same size (adult, about 4") from a local shop. Acclimated easily. However, when the lights came on and the Claudia came out (Cosmetus was up first), the Claudia relentlessly harrassed the Cosmetus until the latter re-buried.
After a few hours I "woke up" the Cosmetus to see if it would be better. Same rough treatment.
I never expected this. I also have a radiant wrasse, a solarensis, and a small lubbock's fairy wrasse. Those are the only wrasses.
Is this hopeless? Do I have to try and catch one or just watch the inevitable death of the Cosmetus.
I guess these species are closer to each other than I had thought. The Claudia may be female (it has the very small spot near the tail, in addition to the larger one on the dorsal). The Cosmetus also has both the spots -- I am not sure if this identifies gender or not, online articles differ on this.
Any advice would be most welcome.
Thanks.
