Ok lets say I have an average tank and my corals have some what decent color but not the ulns pop I have seen how long does it take for the average acropora to go from brownish or dull color to that pop color you see using the ULNS theme? Or even the Zeovit regimen if you where starting that what was your time table like ?

Hi Roger,

Hope all is well!

I employ the full ZEOVit method in my tank. I can say from personal experience that good things happen slowly and bad things happen quickly. The ZEO Method can take a couple months to almost a year for it to really have an effect. My tank is at the 8 month mark and has just started to really show improvement. One issue that has plagued ULNS tanks is pale colors. When you employ the ULNS methodology, you are lowering nutrients to lessen the population of zooxanthale in the coral. The purpose of lowering the population of zooxanthale is to show the colorful pigmented flesh below. When doing this, the coral relies heavily upon additional food sources since the zooxanthale are no longer supplying the majority of the food.

So how long will it take to get that "POP" in color, I would give it at least three months. That is a very quick expectation, though. Of course you can try to get the pop in color sooner with products such as ZEOSpur, but you need to be EXTREMELY careful with this product as you can cause bleaching and death with an overdose.

You are welcome to swing by my place and check out my ZEO Tank. I can show you successes as well as some issues that I have dealt with. IMHO, ZEOVit does exactly what it is supposed to do. If your a hands on type of reefer and do not mind the extra maintenance, then this may be a method for you.

Warmest Regards,
James

yeah since I am starting over with the sps i have been getting acro in bi-weekly and some stressed so I have been feeding and using amino's and pohls xtra to get the zooxanthale strong and healthy and in doing that they loose color but at least every stresssed acro has fattened up nicely . my question is when i am finally done collecting and have them all healthy and begin the regimen of ulns to weaken the zooxanthale in order to expose the color, how long do you think this process will take and get the colors to pop? Hey cuna since your local I will be hitting you up for knowledge when the time comes for Zeo..just picked up another nice piece check it out...
