This one might take a minute to read but i think its Awesome.
So until today i worked at A LFS that shall not be named. I worked one day a week to help with the New Saltwater system they installed about 2 months ago. Checking in fish fragging corals, testing, dosing, trying to keEp them from killing a bunch of animals etc etc. Well i walked in the shop today only to find 2-3 inches of water covering the entire floor of the entire store. Its a pretty big store too. Oh yea they dont have a drain anywhere. And a lot of the electrical outlets are in the floor. Thats how my day started at 10 am.
At about 10:30 i see that some of the systems they have 7....... none of them connected and some of them without sumps....or skimmers.... or......There is a list start blowing micro bubbles . Can anybody guess why?????? They for the last 6 days have forgotten to manage the sumps and kept selling stuff out of the tanks. The 4 with sumps were down about 40 or so gallons total. The other 3 system were low quite a bit also. So now i am quite angry...So i go to get some Ro water and for some reason they only have about 15 gallons Cooked. "So someone says hey just use tap.............
It took me all day to get the systems to function OK....and i mean Just OK.
All right so we get all the water cleaned up....the systems running and then guess what...... A lady comes in asking for info.. So i talk to her. She has a 75 gallon AGA she wants to set up as a reef.....and as i try to explain to her what she will need right away.....Tell me if i am wrong here.... TANK, STAND, OVERFLOW BOx TO SUMP IT if she chooses(gave her both options reccommened sumping), RODI UNIT, SKIMMER, 1LBS PER GALLON ROCK at a min,SALT, tEST KIT, when here cycle is over lighting..I suggested vho or halide if she wanted to keep sps. I even suggested coming to this site to ask questions and look for used equipment. I went slow let her ask questions all and all took me about 30 min. At the end of it She got mad at me because i said that it is gonna cost more than a few hundred to set up her system. and the OTHER guy and Petco said that all she need is a little rock Some PC lights and a biowheel. After that she can start adding fish and coral.
