Thanks to Marc, over at Melev's Reef, I am not able to get shots like this. What an awesome investment. Thanks again.

I see on his site where he discusses the box, but I can't see how to order one, or how much they cost.

Jr,

What camera and lens did you shoot those with? I'm glad to hear you can still use manual focus with this box; I think I need to pick one up.

D300 w/ tamron 90mm macro lens.

yeah you can do manual but its with the very tips of my fingers, and i have very large hands, so it would depend on your lens, and of coarse your reach.

I love it, and even with AF, its still very very cool.

I read that you were going to do some mods to Marc's photo box to try to stabilize it to allow you to have longer exposures, did you do that? If so, can you maybe share how.

Fantastic shots BTW...very impressive.

thanks,

I am working on it, but i havent had any time since i got it to really make any proto's yet. Its going to be VERY simple, and VERY inexpensive. Im currently trying to decide on angles more than anything.

I might just have to get another box from Marc.

I made my top down box for about $10 worth of acrylic (4 black pieces for the side and 1 clear piece for the bottom) and about 15 minutes of time. It was my first attempt at doing any type of acrylic work and it turned out pretty darn good.

the trick was getting it together with small squeeze tightening bar clamps first, then welding the pieces together. I'll find some of the pictures i've taken with it and post

from when i built it:

a few pics i've taken with it all are pretty old. I haven't had much to take pics of recently:
