Saw a coral today at store labeled as umbrella leather. Had long thin tentacles. Can't find pic of same online. What can you tell me about this coral? Thx

Try looking under "Toadstool" Leather or Sarcophyton (sp?)

Typically very hardy corals which will tolerate low light and flow, but prefer higher light and Moderate to High Flow. They will occasionaly close up and shed a waxy coating, just make sure they get good flow during these times.

I bought a 3" diameter toadstool about 2 months ago and i have already fragged it and it needs it again, it is up to 9" diameter already. I love it. I definately think you should purchase this.

That's very impressive that yours is growing that fast. I had a toadstool leather for over a year and had only gotten to around 8in. in diameter but it died recently while I was away on a trip. It was one of my favorite corals.

I love "umbrella" leathers (as opposed to the "toadstool" leathers), their polyp structure is so much prettier. I never had luck with my frag though, kept it for years and years in every reef (20, 55, 120) as I upgraded but it never grew to more than 2" across. really odd.
